Amadeus walks down the road, and gets found almost naked.

This is so awkward. I feel like Natalie's in my head, like she takes away all of my... you know, those things, they're like thoughts, but different...

I like Amp, a lot, so it's not like having a /little/ thing for Natalie is gonna hurt, right? This sucks, I wish Natalie would go back to being a bitch, it was a lot less confusing...

Kaci leaves Amadeus to have awkward revelations about Natalie.

( ', I know you're curious, but he's getting flustered.' [Walter, Kaci, Amadeus] )

( 'Water's so pretty, in sounds.' [Amp, Amadeus] )

Amadeus has breakfast and makes Walter uncomfortable, then goes on a date with Amp and makes his first official romantic gesture.

I'm not sure what I did, I'm sure it was something, but I'm not sure what. Does she think I was literally saying she was a college girl? Was she mad because I didn't call her a mathematician? Maybe it's because I said she was hot... God, I don't know, why can't she just write me a guide?

Everything was going well until Amadeus unwittingly offended Natalie... he thinks.

Nadia is only 13, Nadia is only 13, Nadia is only 13... Right? I should ask a scientist...

Amadeus helps Nadia, and flirts, and Bahir is probably going to kill him.

I have a gigantic TV, and Natalie was almost nice to me, so I guess today was a good day. I need to figure out what she likes or I'll never be able to hold a conversation. I think she was slipping up, didn't notice she was being nice, so I guess that means she's not a mean person by nature?

( 'I appear to be /avoiding/ the question,' [Natalie, Amadeus] )

Amadeus completely bombs in a conversation with Natalie, the sun rises in the morning, grass is green...

I'm going to have a new television in a few days, and I'm not sure how cable works in this place. And you know, I'm starting to think there's a lot of porn on the internet, I have to find someone to ask about that.

( 'If I tell you about my love life, you'll just add it to your porn.' [Zenith, Amadeus] )

Amadeus gets in Zenith's business, and is still learning the difference between flirting and objectification.

This is the ending to Volume I of the Human Books. I chose the end of the mission to end the book and enter my closing observations, since we'll all be changed when we return. I'll be starting fresh in Volume II, using what I've learned from this volume to see how much everyone has changed, and how much I've changed, along with my views of everyone.

Random Journal Notes:

You learn about the enemy's goals and motives, and even about their culture, for the same reason you learn how the mob works before you go stomping around in their house.

Zenith is cooler than I thought, there's more to her, but I gotta figure out how to get her to show it without screwing it all up. She sounds like she really gets where I'm coming from, and that's pretty cool.

Pete's alright, he knows what he's talking about, but he's kind of a douche. Not a Bahir douche, but he's a bit over the level of douchiness you usually find in cops. Totally needs to get laid, I do too, but I'm not a douche, he needs it more.

Be more discrete about my willingness to kneecap people.

Amadeus talks to Zenith, relates, then learns things from Pete.

Amadeus super spies Oriel, then screws up at the last minute, but only a small screw up!

Everyone meets after the debrief for discussion and minor verbal conflict!

So, it's Valentine's Day! Amadeus is getting bugged by his lack of friends in this place, so he's got a few cards for the girls (and even a very special guy). He made them himself, so they're nothing special! These things will be found in front of their doors

I should also note that he's only giving cards+gifts to people he's met!

The cards are written with fairly alright cursive penmanship (it's clearly readable, at least).

Of course, they were a bit ripped off, but who's gonna argue with 800 bucks?
